New to CrossFit?
Fundamentals of CrossFit:
Thanks for your interest! (CrossFit Kids & Teens please scroll down a bit further!) Before joining the regular classes, new members go through a series of four Fundamentals of CrossFit classes with one of our CrossFit Level 1 or Level 2 Trainers to learn the basics of the movements we perform. In the Fundamentals classes, new members are taught how to safely perform the foundational movements that we regularly see in our daily workouts, or WODs. Even after these Fundamentals classes, we do not expect new members to be experts in the movements. It may take several weeks or months to be completely comfortable with performing even the most basic of movements, and that is totally fine! Until then, we will scale the movements and workouts as needed by either lessening the prescribed weight, number of reps, and/or limiting the range of motion to a point that will allow a person to properly and safely perform the exercise. For example, many members use large resistance bands to assist with pull-ups; full, strict push-ups can be scaled to be performed from the knees or against a wall; one may step up on a box, rather than jumping; some members squat down to an box to limit their range of motion if they cannot reach full squat depth on their own; some members lift from on top of a box(es) to limit their range of motion; etc.
How to Sign Up:
Fundamentals classes are limited to 3 new members per class. They start the first full week of each month, and must be completed in order from start to finish. Please contact us today to reserve your spot! You can contact us here, email us, or message us on Facebook.
Class Previews:
If you want to check us out before joining the Fundamentals classes, please feel free schedule a FREE initial consult with one of our coaches. We can explain what Portage CrossFit Cooperative is all about and find out more about your goals. The initial consults are typically scheduled about 15-20 minutes before our regular afternoon class times. That way when we're finished you can stick around and observe a regular class to get a feel for what a regular class and the Portage CrossFit Cooperative community is actually like!
Not Brand New to CrossFit:
Do you have previous CrossFit experience? If so, the Fundamentals classes may not be necessary and you’ll have the opportunity to test out and jump right into the regular classes.
Existing Members:
You can check out our wide variety of membership options. We offer both contract and non-contract options, as well as punch cards to satisfy every member's needs! Please contact us with any questions, comments or concerns.
Drop-Ins:
Drop-Ins are $20 for visitors from other CrossFit boxes. We love drop-ins!
